Film Screening: Howl
In celebration of Allen Ginsberg’s birthday (he would have been 87 on June 3) the Contemporary Jewish Museum screens the modern classic film Howl which explores the sensationalism surrounding the publication of one of the most important poems of the twentieth century. The film is a great primer to Ginsberg’s poem “Howl” and the accompanying obscenity trials that changed the future of modern literature.Directed by Rob Epstein, animation by Eric Drooker (84 min, 2010).
