Political Threads: A Personal History
Textile Arts Council presents artist Consuelo Jimenez Underwood. Empowered by the voices of her indigenous maternal ancestors, she refocused studies from paintbrush and pigments to needle and thread. Her artwork is an external validation of ancestral memory and personal quest. Former Professor of Art and Head of the Fiber/Textile Program, San Jose State University, her work references the Chicano experience, has been exhibited widely and is in the permanent collections of several museums.
