History Talk | The Life and Times of Tede Matthews, Poet and Revolutionary

Thursday, Apr 4, 2013 7:00p to 9:00p
The GLBT History Museum San Francisco, CA

Historian Greg Youmans presents the life and times of Tede Matthews, a poet and activist who lived in San Francisco from the mid-1970s until his death from AIDS in 1993. A star of the 1977 film "Word Is Out," Matthews was a performer with the Angels of Light. He also was a member of the Modern Times Bookstore Collective and an activist in international liberation struggles. Illustrated with videos, the talk will explore how Matthews's biography complicates accounts of recent queer history.
