Ladies Take The Lead - The Bay

A 3 hour workshop for female identified persons taught by Jasmine Herrick. Confidence, basic leading skills, and why ladies are uniquely suited to lead are the three goals of this class. Solo movement, connection, and leading with intention are a few of the fundamentals that will be taught, along with discussions on emotional and physical safety on the dance floor, how female leads can empower other dancers, and how having confidence can make every dance wonderful (even basic dances!). All of this… Show more will be taught and led with feminist and queer lenses. This is a partnered dance event (but no partner is required to attend), and it's basted (and based) in blues, with a swig of swing, a sprinkling of salsa, a drop of hip hop, and a taste of tango. No prior experience required.This all levels class will be focused for beginners to leading, but will contain concepts and theories that are helpful for all levels of dancers. Modifications on the exercises are available for more advanced dancers because inclusiveness is really important. :-)
