Metal Alliance Tour: Anthrax with Exodus, High On Fire, Municipal Waste, and Holy Grail

Thursday, Mar 28, 2013 8:00p

They're fundamental building blocks of life, shaping all we have and determining all we know. You can sugarcoat it all you want, but the results are all the same. Life is created, life is destroyed, and the world goes on. In between? We live, we love, we laugh, we cry, we mourn. Life takes us on flights of uninhibited fancy, and life sends us down roads of unrelenting turmoil. Through the creation, through the destruction, and through the bittersweet ironies that consume us.

Performers at this Event
Anthrax
Anthrax Remove performer from this event
Nearly as much as Metallica or Megadeth, Anthrax were responsible for the emergence of speed and thrash metal. Combining the speed and fury of hardcore punk with the prominent guitars and vocals of heavy metal, they helped create a new subgenre of heavy metal on their early albums....
Exodus
Exodus Remove performer from this event
Once the kings of the Bay Area metal scene -- the birthplace of thrash -- Exodus were unceremoniously demoted from their post with the arrival of Los Angeles' Metallica in 1982. High On Fire
High On Fire Remove performer from this event
Guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike, bass player George Rice, and drummer Des Kensel formed High on Fire in 1999, following the collapse of Pike's previous band, doom metal titans Sleep. But while Sleep had built their fame on impossibly slothful tunes and copious weed consumption, High on Fire's first release, The Art of Self Defense, displayed a far more aggressive though still fantasy-themed style of heavy metal....
Municipal Waste
Municipal Waste Remove performer from this event
From choosing a name that makes them sound like some sort of urban public works department, to their music itself, Richmond, VA's Municipal Waste openly bow down to the memory of '80s thrash metal and crossover -- twenty years after, and a few hundred miles away from the original movement's heyday in New York City....
