Dr. Elena Tsareva is a world-acknowledged specialist in the field of archaeological and ethnographic textiles and an expert on carpet weaving of the peoples of Northern Eurasia. She is head of textile research at the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography, Saint Petersburg. Her most recent publication is Turkmen Carpets: Masterpieces of Steppe Art, from 16th to 19th Centuries, The Hoffmeister Collection.
