Pictorial photography was a movement, peaking in the early part of the 20th Century, which sought to establish a new aesthetic style for photography. It began in response to claims that a photograph was nothing more than a simple record of reality, and ultimately became an international movement to advance the status of photography as a true art form.
Works by: Alfred Stieglitz, Alvin Langdon Coburn, Imogen Cunningham, Annie Brigman, Baron Adolph de Meyer, Leopold Hugo, others.
