Art Opening: The Emperor and the Nightingale: Studies at the Intersection of Technology and Nature

Saturday, Nov 24, 2012 6:00p to 8:00p

Nov 7~Jan 2
Susan Sanford's new series combines assemblage and reworked photographs, most frequently embroidered, exploring the dialogue–and sometimes the conflict – between nature and technology. While machinery grinds up forests, the engines of nature are at work oxidizing that same machinery. Clocks tick, run down, rust and become homes to new life. Look closely at the forest floor and undiscovered worlds reveal themselves. It's a sort of rock, paper, scissors played out around us every day.
