1st Annual Mission Latin Jazz Festival
The long overdue First Annual Mission Latin Jazz Festival features a showcase of exceptional musicians and bands from the Mission district, the Bay Area, California, the US, Latin America, and beyond. An all-star band of Mission district musicians from the 1970s is paired with the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble, the next generation of SF Latin Jazz musicians. The 20-piece big-band Pacific Mambo Orchestra is paired with VL Trio.

Influenced by Taiko drumming and Balinese gamelan, jazz tap and hambone, the San Francisco percussionist and dancer performs his mesmerizing style of Body Music — chest slaps, foot slides, cheek pops, clapping, stepping, singing – with his nimble group featuring Nuria Bowart, Bryan Dyer, Steve Hogan, Namita Kapoor, Evie Ladin and guest vocalists Rico Pabón and Kenny Washington.
The Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco, or LJYE, is a performing group of talented musicians ages ten to 18. Their repertoire features Latin jazz classics and original compositions at a level that has landed them gigs at the San Jose Jazz Festival, the KCSM Jazz Festival, KGO Radio, Yerba Buena Gardens, SF Museum of Modern Art, Paramount's Great America and the world-renown jazz club, Yoshi’s....
