Labadie conducts Mozart and Handel
Mozart composed his angelic motet less than six months before his death. In the remarkable span of nine days in 1739, Handel composed a tribute to St. Cecilia, the Patron Saint of Music. Staking a role for music in the creation of the world, it asks, “What passion cannot Music raise and quell?” Nary a one, as evidenced by this sublime celestial celebration.
