SF Intl. Arts Festival: 'White Rabbit, Red Rabbit' feat. Josh Kornbluth

Iranian Playwright Nassim Soleimanpour declined to serve in his country’s armed forces. In return, the Iranian government denied Mr. Soleimanpour’s request for a passport. Unable to leave Iran, he has instead sent a script in the care of Volcano Theatre of Canada. Soleimanpour’s arresting and allegorical work, White Rabbit, Red Rabbit, dissects the experience of a whole generation in a wild, utterly original play. Soleimanpour turns his isolation to his own advantage with the play (written in English)… Show more which requires no director, no set, and a different actor for every performance.

Josh Kornbluth is a monologuist, filmmaker, and sometime TV-show host who lives in Berkeley with his wife and son. His one-man theater shows include Red Diaper Baby, The Mathematics of Change, Ben Franklin: Unplugged, Love & Taxes, Citizen Josh, and (most recently) Andy Warhol: Good for the Jews? A performance film of Red Diaper Baby is available on DVD; and a book of the same title, containing three of Josh’s monologues, is out in a second edition. Another of his stage pieces, Haiku Tunnel, was adapted into a feature film -- starring Josh and co-directed by Josh and his brother Jacob -- that was released nationally by Sony Pictures Classics. For two years he hosted an interview show on KQED-TV, San Francisco’s public television station, cleverly titled The Josh Kornbluth Show. Currently Josh and brother Jacob are completing a second feature film, based on the Love & Taxes monologue.
