MTT and Lang Lang

Thursday, Nov 1, 2012 8:00p
Davies Symphony Hall San Francisco, CA

A world premiere from the Orchestra’s Assistant Concertmaster Mark Volkert opens a dynamic program. The extraordinary Lang Lang returns to the SFS to perform Bartók’s notoriously difficult yet immensely popular Second Piano Concerto. Rachmaninoff was an extraordinary melodist; one of the tunes from his Second Symphony enjoyed a second life as a rock hit in the ’70s.
