Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra plays Chopin and Tchaikovsky
The Warsaw Philharmonic is one of the oldest musical institutions in Europe, with a founding date 10 years earlier than the SFS. Devastating consequences from World War II nearly halted their music, but the orchestra rebounded, and now tours the world, records, and welcomes the world’s finest artists to its stage. Its first program here brings the second piano concerto of native son Chopin, as well as Tchaikovsky’s final symphony, the marvelous and moving Pathétique.
