Sculptor Rich Stewart
Metal casting is an extremely dramatic, physical, and sometimes dangerous process. Sculptors often leave the dirty parts to the foundry workers, preferring to direct the finishing process themselves. Not Rich Stewart, he does it all himself, and that shows in the gritty, earthy sculptures he produces. His work is often sometimes subversively humorous and it celebrates the iconic tools of the American West. Cast a bar of soap in bronze and it's an instant monument to the Westward Expansion.
