In the mid-1980's owners Mike Forter and Peter Cooperstein decided it was time San Francisco had a pizza place that made pies the way they ate them growing up on the East Coast: Thin, foldable-crust pizzas with slightly charred edges and minimal but vibrantly flavored toppings. Amici's fill's the Bay Area's need for New York-style pizza.
