To boost critically low blood supplies, Hillsdale Shopping Center is partnering with Blood Centers of the Pacific (BCP) to host a Peninsula Blood Drive.
Everyday hundreds of people in the Bay Area need blood. Less than four percent of eligible donors give blood and the summer season brings blood shortages to metropolitan areas. To make up for this deficit, BCP regularly imports blood from out of state. However, because the summer season shortages are nationwide, the blood center has not received the blood it needs. So BCP is turning to local residents for assistance. All donors will receive a free All-Star Game shirt and the chance to win a trip to the 2008 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
BCP is a non-profit organization that supplies blood to more than 40 Northern California hospitals and solely depends on volunteer donors for donations. For more information visit www.bloodcenters.org.
