Spartan Stadium

The stadium was built in 1933 and seated only 4,000 people. The upper deck was constructed in 1980. The stadium was further renovated in 1985, when mezzanine-level private boxes and additional seats in both the upper deck and the end zones were installed. Over the years, Spartan Stadium has grown to a seating capacity of over 30,000 and still maintains its character with the original balustrades, pine trees, and rose bushes. In April of 1998, a field widening project was completed. The field now measures 70 yards wide and 110 yards in length. Nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley, Spartan Stadium is located 45 miles south of San Francisco in San Jose, California. Because of its versatility, Spartan Stadium has been selected often for its great sight lines and close proximity to the action. Concerts, such as Pearl Jam and Lollapalooza, as well as celebrity commercials with Joe Montana and Steve Young, have been filmed using Spartan Stadium.
