Mexico’s Top Start-Ups to be Showcased in Silicon Valley

San Jose – The Mexican Technology Business Accelerator (TechBA) is hosting their annual Mexican Technology Showcase on Wednesday May 28th from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM at The Tech Museum of Innovation in downtown San Jose. In 2006 there were over 20% more full-time undergraduate engineering students in Mexico than the United States. Coming to the US with this highly talented workforce, innovative Mexican companies are looking to form partnerships with successful American companies.

The 40 best high tech start-ups in Mexico were selected to participate in TechBA’s business development program and showcase, including companies ranging from biotech animation to supply chain management systems. TechBa will also be hosting speakers from Google, HP, GE, and Novartis. This free event is an opportunity local business leaders, venture capitalists, and corporate decision makers to partner with highly skilled technicians and professionals on both sides of the border.

In addition to the presentations from the fourth generation TechBA companies, the Mexican Technology Showcase will also play host to guest speakers from the high tech industry. The key note speaker for the event will be Dr. Juan Vargas, a former Sr. Academic Relations Manager for Microsoft and currently a member of the Google University Relations team. He will be discussing the challenges of international companies in expanding across an ever more globalized world. In addition to Dr. Vargas, there will be a panel discussion featuring representatives from HP, Novartis, Packet Video, and GE. These experts will be discussing their success stories working with Mexican companies.

The Mexican Technology Showcase on May 28th will begin at 6 pm with a poster session and hors d'oeuvres. From 7pm to 7:45 Dr. Vargas will be giving his speech entitled "Connecting Dots in the Flat World". From 8pm to 9pm there will be to panel discussion with the aforementioned experts entitled "Real Companies, Real Results Around the Corner". The evening’s events will end with desserts another opportunity to again view the 40 participating TechBA companies posters and presentations.

TechBA is a program sponsored by the Mexican Ministry of the Economy and is designed to help the top Mexican companies reach the global market with their innovative products and services. TechBA enables these companies to reach their potential by facilitating access to market, financial, managerial skills and technological resources of highly entrepreneurial business environments.
