Post Theater Staff Discriminates and Can Be Very Rude & Insulting!

Poor Customer Service. Discriminates Against Those Who Buy Half Priced Tickets, Unwilling to Relocate Theater Patrons to Empty Seats Even When Theater Has a Substanial Number of Empty Unsold Seats!

On 9/9/07, I went to see Blues In the Night with Maurice Hines and Freda Payne and I was humiliated and insulted by the Post Theater staff simply because I wanted to change my seat and move from the front to an obvious empty unsold seat in the rear.

I went out to enjoy my rare opportunity to go out by myself. I'm a stay at home mom and don't get the chance often to get out by myself often. And unfortunately this was the worse place that I could have chosen to spend such a rare opportunity. I couldn't believe how horrible I was treated. Many of the staff personnel were rude and insulting. I bought a half priced ticket and I thought that I was getting a good seat since the lady at the Half Priced Ticket Booth said that it was in the Orchestra section in the center 2 rows from the stage. When I went to sit down, I felt too close to the stage and asked the ushers if I could move to the back. The ushers told me that they have a strict policy and that they don't allow you to move until after intermission. I asked how long was the first half and she said that it was an hour so I said that I have to be unhappy for a whole hour when there are all these empty seats at least a third were empty. The usher then told me to go speak to some gentleman who was taking tickets and later selling CDS, he told me to go to the box office for an open seat pass. When I went there, they told me that I didn't need a pass since I had a half priced ticket so I went back to the gentlemen and asked him again if I could move my seat and he said no that I would have to wait until after intermission. Then I decided to just go and sit in an empty seat in the back and one of the ushers asked to see my ticket and she told me that I couldn't sit there that these seats are bought or that the ushers usually sit in them. At this matinee performance, these seats remained unsold. Can you imagine, an usher having seating preference over a paying patron. And can you imagine, someone saying to you "You can't sit back here, go sit in the front." I just wanted to sit in the cheap seats and I was willing to down grade my seat myself. Normally, when I take my kids out to the many different shows, I often wish that we could move closer but the staff doesn't let you go anywhere near the stage if you don't have a ticket for the front, they generally don't care as much about who goes in the back. So I thought that this was a little comical. Here I am with a front seat and all I want to do is go and sit in the very back in a row of empty seats. How ironic! The gentleman told me that I should have bought a full priced ticket if I wanted to change my seat. I thought that comment was inappropriate and isnulting since he didn't know whether or not I could afford to buy a full priced ticket. I still paid $43 for my ticket and I deserved better treatment. When I bought my half priced ticket no one informed me that I would be subjected to such harsh treatment and treated like a second class citizen. In fact, the Post Theater staff referred me to the Half Priced Ticket Place when I asked about buying a discounted ticket. A ticket is a ticket, half priced or full priced, an individuals with either ticket should be treated fairly and not be discriminated against or made to be felt inferior especially when there was no reason for it. There were plenty of empty seats at least a third throughout the show. If you go to the Post Theater don't expect them to accommodate your reasonable request to change your seat even when the theater is practically empty. I do not recommend this Theater. The Staff needs to improve its customer relations or this theater may be forced to go out of business for lack of Patrons. The Post Theater Staff ruined my day at the Theater!
