Huckabay McAllister Dance

Huckabay McAllister Dance is a dance/theatre company based in San Francisco, California. Since 1994, the HMD company has uncovered the visceral, humorous, and horrifying aspects of the human condition. Awarded "Critic's Choice" by the SF Bay Guardian for each of the past three years, and twice featured on cable TV's "Inside City Limits," HMD has performed to critical and public acclaim for audiences throughout the Bay Area.

Choreographers Emma and Jenny, who create work independently, choreograph dances in a range of intriguing styles, which are then combined under one theme to present evening length performances. Jenny often works with a strong narrative structure and distinct characters, while Emma specializes in visceral, detailed solos and raucous group dances.

Emma and Jenny share a fifteen-year history of performing together for such noted choreographers as Lucas Hoving, Cliff Keuter, Gregg Lizenbery, Gary Masters, Duncan Macfarland, and Clare Whistler. They are linked by a shared vision of presenting quirky, polished work exploring hidden human complexities.

HMD has presented eight evening length concerts and three benefits, and has appeared in numerous showcases and curated programs, including Summerfest, Wild Cabaret, the Local series at Dancer's Group Studio Theater, Fellow Traveller's Month of Sundays, The Vision Series, Women on the Way, and the Yerba Buena Gardens Choreographers Festival.
