The Textile Arts Council of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco presents local textile artist and educator Barbara Shapiro. from the ubiquitous blue denim of our own culture to the luminous traditional textiles produced from Nigeria to southern China, indigo is a constant presence. This ancient dyestuff is prized for its rare color and medicinal powers and has had an enormous impact on fortune and trade throughout world history.
