In this gripping and surprisingly humorous solo performance, Sameth chronicles her time spent in Sri Lanka in 1983. Having decided to stay in Sri Lanka after her study abroad term ends, Sameth is unexpectedly caught in the brutal violence that marked the beginnings of AsiaÂs longest civil war.
Six people sharing one egg, policemen needing protection, and a swami attacked by an angry mob, coupled with flashbacks of SamethÂs own upbringing in a Jewish family are just a few elements of this powerful and compelling story. Sameth seamlessly weaves together all of these components to offer a unique perspective of a civilian outsider trapped in the middle of the chaotic start to Sri LankaÂs twenty-six year civil war.
