Jew Tube: TV Sitcoms' Jewish Family Portraits

From The Goldbergs to The Simpsons and Seinfeld, Jewish images in the “mirror” of television can tickle or torment us. Often they do both. Sherith Israel explores those images in a five-week course, Jew Tube: TV Sitcoms' Jewish Family Portraits, led by congregant David Perlstein.

The course focuses on the presentation and evolution of Jewish identity and Jewish issues during the 60-year history of situation comedies beginning with The Goldbergs (1949) on network TV and continuing on cable.
