Jill Parkers San Francisco Foxglove Sweethearts are at El Rio's Arabian Nights! Intoxicating, gorgeous & striking Foxglove Sweethearts bellydance a living, breathing, timeless art, creating a connection to the past through a modern lense. After more than a decade choreographing & visioning for Ultra Gypsy Dance Theatre Company and two decades in her field, Jill aimed to explore an intimate collaborative experience with some extremely well trained inspiring & versatile bellydancers. Her goal is to create work heavily informed by traditional styles of dance while keeping her famous highly developed trademark sense of experimental twists, keen aesthetics & narrative approach to the form and viola Foxglove Sweethearts was born!
Amira has been dancing since the age of five, with
fifteen years of classical Russian Ballet training. While she has studied multiple styles of dance and has performed in multiple contexts, it was in Belly Dance that she recognized her calling as a dancer. She distinguished in Belly Dance a classical, graceful dance form that celebrates the female body and allows the dancer to move musically with the entire body. She heard in Arabic music, especially in Egyptian music, a range of emotions and tones which she expresses artistically in her dance. She is often complemented by Arabic audiences as being an "artist" of the dance. She has studied with Delilah (Seattle, WA) and Najia (Bay Area,
CA) as well attended many workshops with many
well-known dancers.
