Since breaking onto the scene 26 years ago, HIV has become one of the most devastating infectious disease epidemics in human history. Over 60 million people have been infected with HIV, and 25 million have died. On World AIDS Day 2008, pioneering AIDS researcher Warner Greene, director of the Gladstone Institute of Virology and Immunology, will report on areas of progress and hope, and on the challenges of bringing an end to this crisis once and for all.
