This fall, SF Camerawork invites the public to become the art in 'I feel I am free but I know I am not'. Through a series of participatory multi-media performance events and ongoing interactions in the gallery, this dynamic exhibit evolves as artists and audience collude to turn SF Camerawork into a participatory space and to blur the boundaries between art maker, viewer and media. In Part I, participating artists include Roger Sayre, Tim Sullivan, and Oliver Herring with multiTASK. The public is encouraged to participate in events (schedule at sfcamerawork.org ), interact with gallery installations and to view the resulting photographs, video and online documentation on display.

Please note-This event has two segments, each with a different group of artists and its own opening reception. The artists featured in this segment are:

Roger Sayre
Sitting: One-hour Portraits invites the public to sit immobilized and "on exhibit" for a one-hour exposure akin to the process used by 19th Century
daguerreotypists. Sittings are by appointment.

Tim Sullivan
Using video and blue screen technology, Sullivan inspires improvisational performance as visitors step into a rowboat and become part of a movie about being at sea.

Oliver Herring with multiTASK
TASK Party SF begins with a simple task devised by artist Oliver Herring and left in an envelope becoming the catalyst for a mass improvisational performance.
