The Zookeeper’s Wife * A Natural History of Love
In Conversation with Roy Eisenhardt
As a staff writer for The New Yorker, Diane Ackerman has pursued penguin in the Antarctic, listened to the haunting songs of the humpback whales in Hawaii, and scaled cliffs in Japan to view the world’s rarest albatross. Lush imagery cushions each of her informative forays into the natural world as she is not only a reporter, but also a poet. She has won a Guggenheim Fellowship, the John Burroughs Nature Award and was named a “Literary Lion” by the New York Public Library. In addition to being a prolific author, Diane Ackerman hosted a five-hour PBS television mini-series inspire by her bestseller, A Natural History of the Senses. Her most recent book, The Zookeeper’s Wife is the powerful true story of how the keeper’s of the Warsaw Zoo and won the Orion Book Award this year.
