The Earplay Ensemble perform their fifth annual concert of international experimental music featuring the works of contemporary composers from around the world.
SFIAF’s longest running presenting partners, the Earplay Ensemble perform their fifth annual concert of international experimental music featuring the works of composers Christopher Burns (US), Beat Furrer (Germany), Peter Maxwell Davies (England), Hèctor Parra (Spain) and Salvatore Sciarrino (Italy). Special guest musicians will include Dan Reiter on cello.
Earplay nurtures new chamber music. Earplay links audiences, performers, and composers through concerts, commissions, and recording through the finest music of our time.
Earplay was founded in 1985 by a consortium of composers and performers. Each year, Earplay presents live concerts of challenging music by contemporary composers, including works commissioned specially for Earplay. Commissioning projects have been a cornerstone of Earplay's history, and Earplay sponsors an annual competition for new compositions. Earplay concerts include pre-concert presentations with composers and discussions of their works to increase audience involvement. Earplay presents superb performances of new works to assist composers in their craft and provides recordings of performances for archival purposes. Earplay is committed to supporting the artistic development of composers, performers and audiences.
The Earplay Ensemble are Mary Chun, conductor; Tod Brody, flutes; Peter Josheff, clarinets; Karen Rosenak, piano; Terrie Baune, violin; Ellen Ruth Rose, viola and Thalia Moore, cello
