The wine-pub in the Foundation For Forum building looks like the Jetsons' dream ski lodge in so much that the decor mixes modern and rustic in a way that everyone gets along. Blown glass '60s-inspired chandeliers, unfinished pine plank walls, polished concrete floors, 30-foot glass walls.

On the menu are $4-$10 small bites, sandwiches and salads, some 40 wines and 20 craft brews. Not to be missed are the prosciutto panino (mozerella wrapped in Italian prosciutto, served with spicy mustard) and the fried beef bologna sandwich, washed in beer and served on ciabatta.

Owner Cam Fomby was inspired to open the place after seeing neighborhood cafe after too-cute-for-words neighborhood cafe on his recent month-long whirl around New Zealand. And so continues the microlocalization of San Diego's boroughs. -- DERRIK CHINN, SIGNONSANDIEGO
