The original Mad Dogs opened in what was then the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong in 1984. Founded by two expatriate Scots, it quickly established its reputation as a favorite “watering hole” for tourist, local people and a whole host of Brits, Aussies, Kiwis, Springboks and thousands of visiting American sailors and marines.
Even then, many of our American customers were always telling us to open a Mad Dogs in the States. However, we had to expand in Hong Kong before we could move overseas. Once operations were secured in Hong Kong we focused on America.
Finally, in 1995 we got the opportunity to open in the great city of San Antonio. The best location on the riverwalk became available and we grabbed it with both hands.
Months and months of planning, design and renovation eventually paid off when we opened our doors in January 1995.
Since then, lots of other bars have come and gone, but Mad Dogs San Antonio is still there. In our prime location, we offer good food, good beer, lots of good cheer and a great welcome.

This is an alright bar if you are in the area, but the wait staff doesn't seem to enjoy their jobs and the food is nothing memorable. If the staff were a little happier, I suppose the price wouldn't matter, but they aren't, so it does.
Another odd thing is the age of the wait staff. It's almost questionable wether or not some of them are actually old enough to be server beer, but I'll give em the benefit of the doubt there.
It's worth going once, to see everyone in kilts, but I'd wager once is enough for most.
