One of Lewis and Clark's key commissions from President Jefferson was to gather scientific data about the lands of the West: their flora, fauna, and human inhabitants.… Show more Join Gail Wells who will examine Lewis and Clark as scientists as she explores the worldview they brought with them, how that framework was expanded on their journey, and the scientific insights they brought back to the young United States. Gail Wells is a scientific and technical writer/editor and the author of several books, including Lewis and Clark Meet Oregon's Forests, from which she will draw much of the presentation material. Her latest book is a memoir called The Little Lucky: A Family Geography. Currently, she is making her living as a technical writer with Hewlett-Packard in Corvallis.
