It’s a perfect time to enjoy a wintertime getaway to the Napa Valley. There’ll be less crowds, meaning more rooms available at our cozy romantic inns and great weather for sipping red wine around a roaring fireplace. And to prove we’ve thought of everything, we chose a “no-football” weekend for this great party!
This year’s event will feature many comparative tastings, including our newly-released 2009 vineyard-designated Cabernets and 2010 single-vineyard Zinfandels. In all, more than 45 wines… Show more will be offered for sampling!
Highlights of the evening will likely be a vertical tasting of perfectly-aged 2007 single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons. We’ll take a comparative look at the ’07 Preston, ’07 Morisoli, ’07 Vittorio’s and ’07 Mt. Veeder Cabernets and see how, at six years old, they’ve held their promise and matured (with 14 Gold Medals among them, we’ve held back several cases from this lauded vintage for just such an event as this!) and the release of three great wines—the 2010 Reserve Pinot Noir, the 2011 Petite Sirah and the 2011 Carneros Pinot Noir, wines we’ve been looking most forward to introducing.
Other big tickets will surely be for the special tastings of some of the biggest award-winning wines from 2012, some about to sell out, including the 5-Gold-Medal-winning 2008 Vittorio’s Vineyard Cabernet, two great Zins—the 2009 Ramazzotti Vineyard (3 Golds ) & Gilsson Vineyard (3 Golds/”Best Zinfandel” & “Best of Class”) and the 2011 Napa Valley Semillon (3 Golds & “Best of Class”).
You’ll be able to taste and evaluate up to fourteen vineyard-specific wines straight from the barrel, and will have the opportunity to purchase these wines as Futures at special pre-release prices.
If you are a Futures buyer or are interested in buying Futures for the first time, I strongly urge you to attend this event. Our Futures allocations are based on total production, so it’s likely that many of these wines will not be available come spring.
Chef Shannon Kelly has designed a specially-matched menu of tasty hors d’oeuvres and small dishes to complement our award-winning wines. Shannon is a longtime favorite at V. Sattui and is accomplished at pairing great foods with our wines. And to add to the festivities, there’ll be a lively jazz ensemble, the Sonoma Jazz Collective, back once again with music to soothe the soul.
