Art of Gaman: Arts & Crafts from the Japanese American Internment Camps, 1942-1946

Sunday, Feb 23 10:00a to 5:00p
The California Museum Sacramento, CA

A showcase of more than 120 artifacts made by Japanese Americans at WWII internment camps, this traveling exhibit chronicles creativity, ingenuity and the concept of "gaman," or enduring the unbearable with dignity.

Ranging from everyday objects to paintings and more, works are presented with photographs, documents and films as curated by Delphine Hirasuna, author of the 2005 book "Art of Gaman," with support from the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Japanese American Citizens League.
