All Tomorrow's Parties curated by Deerhunter Festival

Friday, Jun 21, 2013 12:00p to 11:59p

Hailing from Atlanta, Deerhunter have also been one of the most exciting up and coming bands in rock music in the last decade with each of their albums helping to build a very dedicated fanbase. They are long time ATP regulars (and favourites) and we're very happy to have them head the bill and curate the ATP festival. Their event takes place at Pontins, Camber Sands from Friday 21st - Sunday 23rd June 2013.

Kim Deal's post-Pixies off-kilter, edgy indie rock band scored critical raves and a surprise pop hit with "Cannonball." ~ Rovi
Robyn Hitchcock
Robyn Hitchcock Remove performer from this event
Robyn Hitchcock started out as the leader of late-'70s U.0.K psychedelic revivalists the Soft Boys. After that band's disintegration at the turn of the decade, he became a solo artist, whose Bob Dylan-meets-Syd Barrett absurdist wordplay meshed perfectly with his post-Beatles pop melodicism....
Pere Ubu
Pere Ubu Remove performer from this event
Pere Ubu was aptly named for Alfred Jarry's Dadaist play. One of the prime movers in post-punk, the influential Cleveland, Ohio, group took the power and volume of punk and the fractured song forms of avant-gardists like Captain Beefheart, then sent David Thomas's free-ranging vocalizing careening across the top....
Tom Tom Club
Tom Tom Club Remove performer from this event
Tom Tom Club began life as a side project for Talking Heads members Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, who adopted a light, tropical dance style that won them a gold album in Tom Tom Club in 1981 and a Top 40 single in "Genius of Love....
Rhys Chatham
Rhys Chatham Remove performer from this event
Post-minimalist composer and New York downtown music figure Rhys Chatham was involved in music at an early age. He studied classical flute, and was already playing works by contemporary composers such as Luciano Berio and Pierre Boulez by the time he began studying composition (including serialism) in his early teens....
Steve Reich
Steve Reich Remove performer from this event
Following in the footsteps of La Monte Young and Terry Riley, composer Steve Reich is widely considered the third major pioneer of minimalism; credited as the innovator behind phasing -- a process whereby two tape loops lined up in unison gradually move out of phase with each other, ultimately coming back into sync -- his early experiments in tape manipulation also anticipated the emergence of hip-hop sampling by well over a decade....
Kim Gordon
Kim Gordon Remove performer from this event
Born in 1953 in California, Kim Deal was an art student and budding musician when she moved to New York toward the end of punk’s first wave and quickly paired up with future husband Thurston Moore, along with Lee Ranaldo and Richard Edson (later replaced by Steve Shelley), to form Sonic Youth in 1981....

Black Dice
Black Dice Remove performer from this event
Hailed as sonic groundbreakers or derided as alienating and pretentious, Brooklyn's Black Dice push the limits of hardcore and noise rock. Taking their cues from Melt Banana, Merzbow, and Harry Pussy, Black Dice fixate on a few notes per "song" and focus on producing a sound that's as abrasive and distorted as possible....
Ex Models
Ex Models Remove performer from this event
Beginning late 1998, the primary objective of the Ex Models was to bring an edge of authenticity back to the New York underground rock scene with their uniquely mathematical post-punk. With a membership including brother guitarists Shahin and Shahryar Motia, bassist Mikhail Masiello, and drummer Jake Fiedler, the Ex Models spent two years working together to fuse manic changes in time signatures and highly angular guitar and bass lines with their frantic, deconstructed song structures, which garnered a small following in the New York club circuit....
Black Lips
Black Lips Remove performer from this event
Playing garage-flavored punk rock with a Southern accent, a messed-up and bluesy undertow, and the gleefully destructive impact of a 15-year-old with a bag of firecrackers, the Black Lips are an Atlanta-based combo who after their debut in 2000 soon developed a reputation as one of the Peach State's wildest bands....
Panda Bear
Panda Bear Remove performer from this event
The first member of the lauded freak-folk ensemble Animal Collective to strike out on his own, Panda Bear (Noah Lennox) released the elegiac YOUNG PRAYER, a song cycle inspired by the death of his father, in 2004, but didn’t garner major attention as a solo artist until ‘07’s PERSON PITCH....
Deerhunter Remove performer from this event
Deerhunter is an experimental noise rock band from Atlanta, fronted by the compellingly odd singer Bradford Cox. Cox's vocal style blends vocal experimentation along the lines of Meredith Monk or Yoko Ono with a more direct and punky howl inspired by the Fall's Mark E....

Outside of the Animal Collective fold, the New York City-based multi-instrumentalist has released a handful of noisy, psych-rock albums with Eric Copeland of Black Dice under the Terrestrial Tones moniker, a collaboration with múm vocalist (and ex-wife) Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir called Pullhair Rubeye and a 2010 solo album titled Down There....
