The Ex
The Ex Remove performer from this event
Dutch anarcho punks the Ex have been making an exhilarating, politically charged racket since 1979. Over the years, the band's sound--at its core a taut No Wave-inspired style of post-punk--has come to incorporate Eastern European folk music, funk, free jazz, Ethiopian music, and other disparate styles....

Mission of Burma
Mission of Burma Remove performer from this event
Of all the punk-inspired bands that came out of Boston in the early '80s, none were better than Mission of Burma. Arty without being too pretentious, capable of writing gripping songs and playing with ferocious intensity, guitarist Roger Miller, bassist Clint Conley, drummer Peter Prescott, and tape head Martin Swope galvanized the city's alternative rock scene, and despite a too-short existence, set a standard for excellence that has rarely been equalled -- a standard the band upheld when they unexpectedly reunited in 2002....
Scrawl
Scrawl Remove performer from this event
In the mid-1980s, frontwoman Marcy Mays, bassist Sue Harshe, and drummer Carolyn O’Leary emerged of Columbus Ohio the pioneering all-female trio Scrawl. Their sound was equal parts Young Marble Giants avant-amateurs and a more assured proto-indie pop that would influence the riot grrrl movement as well as solo artists like Liz Phair....
Wire
Wire Remove performer from this event
One of the first wave of punk groups during the late 1970s, Wire was neither nihilistic in the Sex Pistols tradition nor political like the Clash. With its brief, caustic songs, Wire was closest to the Buzzcocks' brand of poppy punk, but its art-school leanings took the band into more challenging and experimental territory....
Neurosis
Neurosis Remove performer from this event
Formed in the late 1980s, Neurosis was one of the first heavy metal bands to rework the genre's sound in a genuinely experimental fashion. Using bits of acoustic guitar, sound collages, and experimental noise, and offering a politically charged multimedia live show, the Bay Area group gained a strong cult following as well as critical acceptance....
Uzeda
Uzeda Remove performer from this event
Known mostly for their live performances and extensive touring, the four members of the Italian band Uzeda began playing together in 1987. Melt Banana
Melt Banana Remove performer from this event
Japanese noise rock band Melt Banana found more success in the U.S. and the U.K. than in their own country, gaining a small but dedicated fan base among American and European punk rock fans....
Oxbow
Oxbow Remove performer from this event
The provocative San Francisco-based quartet Oxbow formed in the late '80s around vocalist Eugene Robinson, guitarist Niko Wenner, bassist Dan Adams, and drummer Greg Davis. Mono

Japanese experimental group Mono came together in 2000, choosing to forgo vocals and concentrate instead on atmospheric, classical-inspired rock music. The foursome, bassist Tamaki (the lone female in the group), drummer Yasunori Takada, and guitarists Takaakira "Taka" Goto and Yoda, released their first full-length record, Under the Pipal Tree, in 2001 on John Zorn's Tzadik label....

Red Fang
Red Fang Remove performer from this event
Based out of Portland, Oregon, Red Fang captures the loud and fast, anything-goes spirit of classic rock with their heavy stoner-influenced jams.
