Rockin' the Dragon 2013

Start April off right by joining us at the General Francis Marion Hotel in Marion, Va on April 7 for 4 days of driving on roads that don't have semi's but do have a 55mph speed limit. A number of people will be meeting in Marion, Va to start Dragon Week off with some great driving roads. Rt 16 from Marion to Tazwell is one of the nicest roads in Va with 272 turns in 32 miles. On Wednesday, April 10, we'll do one more drive Back of the Dragon and then some people will be leaving for Little Switzerland to drive Rt 226a, a serious downhill drive that will challenge anyone. Others will be leaving to drive directly to Fontana for an early start on Rockin' the Dragon. You're welcome to get started early and do both events or only one. Either way, you're welcome.

It's back to the Dragon with a new name but with all the good times and good things you expect; great people, roads and events to start 2013 off in style.

What: RtD 2013 (Rockin' the Dragon 2013), the new annual Spring Honda S2000 event on the famous Dragon!
318 curves in 11 miles and plenty of opportunity to socialize with other S2000 enthusiasts. Located in the beautiful mountains of NC/TN, this is an event not to be missed!
RtD starts April 12th (Friday) and ends on April 14th (Sunday). A quick itinerary is included below (a complete detailed itinerary will be emailed to you before the event).

Friday, April 12th - Lots of Dragon driving. Be sure to check out the surrounding roads for a great time. Most people arrive today (some will be arriving from Back of the Dragon even earlier). Plan to attend the Registration gathering which will be held at the ball field in the evening. Along with hamburgers and hot dogs, you can pick up your registration packet there. The registration packet includes your event credentials. Be sure to wear your name tag to join in (this will serve as your Meal pass for Saturday night and admission to all activities). Lots of great times, and food to be had.
We'll also have an early registration and "First Timer's Orientation" and "Dragon Buddy" ridealong on Friday morning. Check the final itinerary for exact time and meeting location. If this is your first Dragon event, we encourage you to join in and meet some other first timers and learn tips on driving your S2000 on the Dragon. Various group drives will also be available during the day on Friday; most of which include a stop for lunch along the way. Friday night is the Cookout on the ball field. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs and lots of good friends. Come early to renew old friendships and make new ones.
Saturday, April 13th - The official "Day" of the event. We'll roll out from Fontana as a large S2000 group - great for video lovers and those wanting great pics of all the S2000s. Dragon driving...and lots of it is on the agenda. We'll have a group photo at the end of the Dragon, and then you can check out a variety of Group Drives (these will be organized drives on various roads surrounding the Dragon) that will offer lunch options. If you choose not to do any of the drives, you are welcome to continue driving the Dragon, explore the area on your own or go back to relax at the lodge. Dinner will be served in the Rec Hall below Fontana Village Lodge. We'll enjoy dinner with a recap of our event and a presentation to follow. Following the banquet, we'll meet at the Laurel Brook Fire Pit and rehash the weekend.
Sunday, April 14th - Say goodbye to fellow S2000 enthusiasts. Some folks will be driving the Dragon, but the majority will be leaving on this day.
