The Nutcracker by Chamberlain Performing Arts

at Eisemann Center, Richardson, TX
Phone: (972) 744-4650
Age Suitability: Kids and up

Celebrating their 25th year of building Classical Foundations for Life, and serving as the preeminent pre-professional ballet company in North Texas, Chamberlain Performing Arts’ production of The Nutcracker promises to be a spectacular event. This season’s production features exciting professional guest dancers from the New York City Ballet, as well as a combination of over 200 Chamberlain Performing Arts company dancers and Chamberlain School of Performing Arts students.

Under the direction of Kathy Chamberlain, Founder and Artistic Director of Chamberlain Performing Arts, this production is usually the first of the holiday season in the North Texas area as well as one of the finest. More than five thousand patrons are anticipated to attend the three shows at the Eisemann Center. Chamberlains’ traditional rendition of The Nutcracker is a perfect way to kick off the holiday season for the entire family!

New York City Ballet's Principal Dancer and Dance Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree, Wendy Whelan, and fellow New York City Ballet Principal, Philip Neal are returning as featured guest artists. Ms. Whelan and Mr. Neal will perform the Grand Pas de Deux as choreographed by George Balanchine.

Other events associated with Chamberlain’s Nutcracker include the annual Sugar Plum Tea Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 4:15 pm following the Saturday matinee. Those that attend can enjoy tea time refreshments, make crafts to take home along with an autograph book, and have opportunities for photographs with the ballet’s main characters including the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier. Reservations can be purchased by calling 214-412-8589. Space is limited, so call early! Chamberlain is also fortunate to be able to partner with WFAA-TV Santa’s Helpers Toy Drive again this year. Each patron is encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to each Nutcracker performance they attend. This allows many underserved children in North Texas to have a happy holiday season. Both are spectacular ways to add to the spirit of the season.

Chamberlain Performing Arts is a not-for-profit arts organization celebrating 25 years of serving the communities of Plano, Richardson, Dallas, and the surrounding areas. Chamberlain draws students and company members from Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Richardson, Carrollton, Dallas, and many other North Texas communities. Chamberlain School of Performing Arts is the official school of Chamberlain Performing Arts.

Chamberlain’s production of The Nutcracker is made possible by generous sponsors such as; the Texas Instruments Foundation, The Andrea-Mennen Family Foundation, The City of Plano through the Cultural Affairs Commission, WFAA-TV Channel 8, The Renaissance Hotel, Half Price Books, WRR Classical 101.1FM, and others. This will be the third season Texas Instruments Foundation has signed on to be a presenting sponsor of this production.

Mingle with the cast including special guest artists Wendy Whelan and Philip Neal of New York City Ballet at the annual Sugar Plum Tea Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 4:15 pm at the Eisemann Center’s Bank of America Hall. Reservations are $25 per person and available by calling 972-985-1374.
