“Love Letters”

A unique and imaginative theatre piece, “Love Letters” is comprised of correspondence exchanged over a lifetime between two people, Andrew and Melissa, who grew up together and then went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences for nearly 50 years. Through notes, letters and cards, they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats. The role of Andrew is played by Douglas Instenes, RTG Managing and Artistic Director, and the role of Melissa is played by popular Milwaukee radio personality Jane Matenaer. This marks Instenes’ return to the stage following a long hiatus. He’s acted at RTG only once previously, and that was a dozen years ago, when he stepped in as a replacement for one performance only of “Oliver!” Matenaer’s voice was heard on WMYX for nearly 25 years. Three years ago, she moved to B93.3, where she is co-host of “Jane & CV,” mornings 5:30-10 a.m.
