Creek Snorkeling & Shad Migration

The Piedmont Learning Center at Eden Mill Nature Center will be offering this program on April 21. The program will run from 1 till 4 pm and are for ages 8 and older. The fee for the program is $ 25.00 for members and $30.00 for non-members. Wetsuits must be worn and are available for $25 rental fee. Creek snorkeling sounds like a strange idea. One of the most impressive events in our rivers is the spawning return of shad to our streams. Shad migrate from the ocean into freshwaters to spawn each spring and snorkeling with hundreds of fish as they make their way upstream is awe inspiring! Join underwater naturalist Keith Williams as we explore the underwater world of Deer Creek during the shad migration. We can expect to see a variety of fish, but especially will experience being in the water with hundreds of migrating shad. Wear clothes that can get wet and shoes that will stay securely on feet in the river. Bring plenty of drinking water. We ll provide the mask and snorkel.
