Volumes of Forgotten Lore

Monday, Apr 22, 2013 7:00p
Providence Athenaeum Providence, RI

Inspired by the life and work of Sarah Helen Whitman, a literary legend of Providence and one-time fianceé of Edgar Allan Poe, Volumes of Forgotten Lore is a libretto born in the archives of the John Hay Library at Brown University. A mix of Whitman’s and Ghublikian’s words, Volumes engages the spirits of yesterday with the bodies of today. Sitting in the Athenaeum, audience members can imagine Whitman walking throughout the space they now inhabit while her words resonate around them.
