Blending film noir conventions with true-crime story-telling, The Imposter tracks the disappearance of Nicholas Barclay, a 13 year-old Texan, last seen leaving school. Three and a half years later Nicolas is apparently found in Spain with tales of escaping a kidnaper. Family members initially ecstatic, begin to puzzle over changes in the boy's appearance, personality and speech patterns. If the boy who has arrived in Texas is not really Nicholas, who is he? And what happened to Nicholas?
