Duquesne Dukes Football vs. Albany Great Danes
The tough guys on the football team from Duquesne University are met on the field by the Albany Great Danes.
Founded by a group of Roman Catholic leaders, Duquesne University first opened its doors as the Pittsburgh Catholic College in October 1878. The "Dukes" nickname dates back to 1911, when the college changed its name to Duquesne in honor the Marquis Du Quesne (1700-1778), the French governor of Canada, who first brought Catholic observances to the Pittsburgh area.
