Brave New World: Technology in Literature and Popular Culture

Chuck Lanigan, a popular presenter at the People's University, will examine the ways science fiction and popular films have influenced and reflected our view of technology. He will discuss classic stories by Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, as well as recent films like Bladerunner and The Matrix. The audience will be invited to discuss the cultural significance of technology, their attitudes toward it as part of their daily lives, and its promises and risks for the future.
