Ilie Ruby discusses her book, The Salt God's Daughter
The Salt God’s Daughter begins in 1970 in Long Beach, California and follows two sisters who have been abandoned by their mother. Imbued with a traditional Scottish folktale and hints of Jewish mysticism, The Salt God’s Daughter examines the tremulous bond between sisters and the enduring power of maternal love as three generations of extraordinary women transcend limitations and affirm their places in the world.
A painter and poet, Ilie Ruby is also the mother of three children from Ethiopia.
