2nd Saturdays: 'One Hearth, One Pot' at Polk Historic Site
Join food historian Clarissa Clifton, from the Latta Plantation, as she demonstrates frontier open-hearth cooking techniques from the 1800s in the kitchen house at the President James K. Polk state historic site. This Mecklenberg County farm was the family home of the 11th U.S. President. The N.C. Department of Cultural Resources each summer sponsors 2nd Saturdays programs at its history museums, art museums and historic sites across the state.
