Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Together since the early ’60s, South African choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo gained a foothold on the U.S. mainstream after appearing on several highlights of Paul Simon’s Grammy-sweeping “Graceland,” which Simon recorded in South Africa. Simon returned the favor, producing 1987’s “Shaka Zulu,” their first U.S. release, which won best traditional-folk recording at the Grammys.
