‘Clybourne Park’

Don’t let the Pulitzer Prize fool you. Playwright Bruce Norris takes on some serious issues in his inventive riff on Lorraine Hansberry’s classic “A Raisin in the Sun,” but he does so with a fearless satirical sensibility that produces huge — if sometimes guilty — laughs. The first act is set in 1959, when we meet the couple who are selling their house in an all-White neighborhood to the (unseen) Black family from “Raisin.” In the second, we revisit the same home 50 years later, when regentrification… Show more is stirring a new round of racially charged conflict. In addition to the Pulitzer, “Clybourne Park” won the 2012 Tony Award for best play. Arizona Theatre Company will produce it as its season finale.
