‘Jane Austen’s Emma’
Our heroine, the self-appointed matchmaker who meddles and muddles her way to true love in early 19th-century England, has had numerous incarnations on the stage and screen. This 2007 musical adaptation is by composer-lyricist Paul Gordon, who was nominated for a Tony Award in 2001CQ for “Jane Eyre.” Arizona Theatre Company, which charmed audiences with Gordon’s “Daddy Long Legs” last season, is sure to bring plenty of Merchant Ivory lavishness to this production.
