Speaking their native language, Navajo code talkers helped the United States achieve victory in the Pacific during World War II. Photographer Kawano, named the official photographer of the Navajo Nation, has been photographing code talker for more than 20 years. This exhibit is presented in conjunction with “Native Words, Native Warriors,” which tells the stories of Indians who aided the military.
