Suicide, secret identities, jealousy and gypsies — what more could you want in an opera? This 1853 triumph by Giuseppe Verdi, known for the muscular “Anvil Chorus,” is about lovers Leonora and Manrico, a troubadour (or trovatore), who fight against the machinations of the jealous Count di Luna. In Arizona Opera’s production, the medieval Spanish setting will be brought to life with state-of-the-art video projections of castles, ruins and battlefields.
